Help Me!

September 7, 2008 at 8:19 pm 16 comments

I’ve been living in my apartment here peacefully and joyfully till a couple weeks ago, a new housemate. He Is really cool, but he’s got a big big problem! He smells. He only cleans himself up once in 2 weeks!!! I’ve complained to the landlord, and nothing is done till date. I can’t live with that anymore!

Tell me what to do!!!!!!

Hey, did you mention it to him? But complaining,
I think you went too far. Because it’s not about cleanliness, it’s what he eats or his temporary medical issue, for example eating too much spices/curry, or has an infection in his body but he doesn’t talk about.
I’ve known people with the same issue, they clean everyday but still have the smell problem.
Live with it. Hopefully it’s just a temporary issue.

He only takes a shower once in 2 weeks, and its body odor! Plus, he never changes his shirt! He wears the same one till he showers! I told him already… Temporary? I am paying one of the most expensive rent in ADELAIDE and my freaking land lord is doing shit about this!!!

Well you never know when he showers, but once in 2 weeks I don’t believe that, even if he doesn’t change his shirt (maybe he loves wearing his shirt). But since it’s a body odor, then RELAX, it’s a food/medical problem, and if there was an “organic” smell, then hes infected somewhere. it takes around a month to heal. So if the smell was on him last week, then wait 1 or 2 weeks max.
    You got to be patient.

Oh case solved: it’s the food he eats. i.e natural body excretion (sweat for example). He can’t smell it even after he showers but other people can smell.

oh nooooo! is he the same roomie that cooks & takes care of you??
Go to Body Shop/L’occitane and buy him those gift sets. Then fill up the bath tub with the soap & put candles all over the bathroom. Tempt him to love taking bath/shower… hehe!

oh well… never misjudge the person, he may be taking a shower everyday, however you can’t smell your own odor, it’s the people around you can.
It was unnecessary talking about him in public, since it’s personal you should have told him indirectly and privately, otherwise he’ll be disappointed and probably hate you.
All you have to do now is apologize to him about what you said, and tell him: “stop eating spiced food, you’ll sweat and bad smell will come out of you” <— it’s important to tell him that with a smile to avoid bad relations.
    That’s all.

sJane: I am doing my best Jane

Al: Lets just say I am home pretty much everyday seated in my living doing my assignments and stuff. And also, I am the one that cleans the bathroom. I’ve also asked him how many times does he take his shower, and he acknowledges that its a couple too few…

    Nicole: Right?

Guys, if he’s a new housemate, then I’m sure you don’t know much about him yet, and you can’t prove if he doesn’t shower just because he sweat body odor (don’t judge him now). a lot of clean people have that odor even when they shower 2 times a day. Did you ask him when he showers? ask him (in an indirect way), he’s probably the persron who showers before/after he wakes up/sleep (that how he gets the odor fast).
I found this topic interesting because me and my friends were in India few months ago, we had that funny smell that we didn’t know about, people spoke about it when we’re back home, then we found out its from the food (the spices) + the ones with more body hair sweat alot faster. The fact is, cleanliness has nothing to do body odor.
